Of the five hundred (500) SYD campers, nine (9) LVF children composed of 4 girls from LVC Cubao, 2 from the CPC area and 3 from the Sta. Mesa Formation Program joined the other children from the different Salesian schools and oratory centers for a 4-day Salesian Youth Day (SYD) Camp entitled: “The Millenial Yes: Dauntless, It is the Lord” It was held last April 26-29th at the Mary Help of Christians College, Canlubang, Laguna. After days of reflections, sharings, inputs and group activities, they are now dauntless in heeding and responding to God’s call. Like the prophets of old and Jesus himself, they are ready to face life’s battles with their faith and commitment as Salesian youth. LVF’s Managing Director, Sr. Marivic P. Sta. Ana, FMA was one of the resource speakers of the concurrent sessions during the camp where she delivered a talk on the reality of the youth-at-risk, their issues and proper interventions that can be afforded them. Three hundred fifty-eight (358) students from two Salesian schools were given sessions on Protective Behavior by Ms. Joy Hugo assisted by Ms. Mercedes Juncia. The 2 schools were Mary Help of Christians College, Canlubang, Laguna (36) on April 5th, and Mary Help of Christians School, Mabalacat, Pampanga (322) on April 10th. The students are now more aware that if they feel the early warning signs the place is not safe for them anymore. They should be responsible in protecting themselves. Awareness is a great factor in building a culture of protection and prevention from all forms of abuse and exploitation. The LVF Staff, Vicunians and Sisters attended the Jesuit Communication’s Easter Recollection at Smart Araneta Coliseum on April 8th with the theme “We have seen the Lord. Seeing the signs of the times.” The Recollection Master was Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle. He spoke about our personal conviction in seeing the Lord. Our lives will become predictable if we enslave ourselves with money, routine and technology. Being fearful will also make us bias to surprises. Showing respect in calling names, keeping our faith and letting God rule our life are the surest ways we can acknowledge God’s presence in our lives. Our special thanks to Ms. Judy Araneta-Roxas for giving us this chance to attend this Easter Recollection. Two (2) girls, Chelsea Salera and Judith Cuadro from Laura Vicuna Foundation graduated at Actec School’s Senior High on April 20th. They are the first graduates of Senior High School with Technical Vocational Strand. Both of these girls graduated with honors. After the ceremony, the Sisters, staff, Vicunians and relatives celebrated their victory with a simple party at the LVF Building. On April 26th LVF had a simple celebration to commemorate Mo. General Yvonne’s Gratitude Feastday which was held this year in the Province of Paraguay. LVC community started the feast with a Holy Mass attended by the Sisters, vicunians and staff followed by a simple salo-salo.
