​​CPC ROADTRIPS IN NEGROS

Four thousand three hundred fifty (4,350) students attended the Laura Vicuna Foundation’s advocacy against child trafficking in their school (LVF ACTS) for the month of September 2017.  Eight different schools in Negros Occidental responded to the invitation.  The sessions were conducted by Ms. Mercedes A. Juncia.  This is in partnership with DepEd Negros Occidental and DepEd Cadiz.  The following are the Child Protection Clinic (CPC) Roadtrips:
LVF ACTS in Manapla, Negros Occ.
Eight hundred eighty-one (881) students were given sessions in 2 schools in Manapla namely St. Roch Academy (301) on September 11th and 12th and Manapla National High School (580) on September 27th and 28th.  The students committed to stop watching pornographic movies and not to pose nude pictures.  They should become advocates, they said, by educating others too.
LVF ACTS in Talisay City
Eight hundred seven (807) were given sessions in 2 far-flung schools in Talisay City namely Dr. Antonio Lizares National High School (446) in Dos Hermanas on September 19th and Don SimplicioLizares National High School (361) in Barangay Matab-ang on September 25th.  It was an eye opener for them to check on job offers first.  Their dignity should also be given importance, they said.
LVF ACTS in Toboso, Negros Occ.
Eight hundred eleven (811) students of Toboso National High School were given the sessions on September 19th.  For them their parents should be advised not to exploit their children.
LVF ACTS in Calatrava, Negros Occ.
One thousand seventy-four (1,074) students in 2 schools in Calatrava were given the sessions on September 20th.  These are the following schools:  Colonel Griffin national High School in Minapasok (823) and Colonel Griffin National High School Marcelo Extension (251).  The students said they should be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge before applying for a certain job.
LVF ACTS in Cadiz City
Seven hundred seventy-seven (777) students of Dr. Vicente Gustilo National High School were given the session on September 22nd.  They said not to indulge in pornography so they will not be able to victimize others and report cases of human trafficking.

 Birthday of  Mary​ ​OUR MOTHER

Last September 7, 2017, students at Laura Vicuna Technology Center celebrated the nativity of our Lady Mother of Christ. Students helped each other in making the celebration, with the physical arrangement, program and games for all.  Started by the Emcee’s Janine Javier and Clarynce Raquel, the opening prayer was led by Keila Mae Bautista followed by the opening remarks by Sr. Ana Guerrero then followed by the program proper, Trivia and Games was led by Maria Isabel Lorin. Presentation by the students as follows: Hand mime with the song What a Wonderful World was performed by the Sprazzo Theater Arts Club , followed by games and trivia related to Mother Mary, next was the performance of the Girls Students a song presentation of Mary’s Faith. Next was the interpretative dance presentation of the song Abang Maria. The program ended with the closing prayer led by Keila Mae.

1,801 LVF ACTS PARTICIPANTS.. Escalante

Upon the request of Escalante DepED Education Program Supervisor, Ms. Alma Senining, 1,801 students from 4 different schools in Escalante, Negros Occidental namely Dian-ay National High School (600), Buenavista National High School-Langub Extension (261), Old Poblacion National High School (231) and Mabini National High School (709) attended the advocacy against child trafficking in their schools on August 23-25th conducted by Mercedes Carla A. Juncia. The students committed to do the following:  to respect first themselves before others will respect them, study well, be aware of their surroundings, report cases of child trafficking, think first before they act, don’t bully victims, spread the advocacy against human trafficking, don’t talk to strangers,  and check properly job offers.

YEHEY CAMP 5

The 5th Youth Helping Youth (YEHEY) Camp was held last August 24-25th  at the Laura Vicuna Foundation, Inc. Building in Quezon City.  Thirty-Six Vicunians and LVTC Trainees participated in this event, which was a "training of trainors" for the Follow Your Dream Program. 5 LVF Youth advocates facilitated the camp  led by 14-year-old Catherine Nicole Velasquez, 11-year-old Tricia Nadine Velasquez, 17-year-old Shiela Navarro, 15-year-old Nicole Elumba and 13-year-old Hannah Babes Yap.  Ms. Rona Cendy Deluta and Sr. Marivic Sta. Ana supervised the activities.

LVF Corporate Sec. Visits LVF New Center in Palawan

Atty. Regis Puno,Corporate Secretary and Board of Trustee of LVFI  visited the Macarascas Palawan Learning Facility, the new Palawan Center which is now under the Laura Vicuna Foundation Inc. to the delight of the Sisters and the 60 youth learners.

Grant Support Proposal Workshop

The Laura Vicuna Foundation represented by Ms. Ivy Gay Gantuan and Ms. Mercedes Carla A. Juncia participated in the grant support proposal workshop sponsored by the Children’s Hour Philippines Foundation on August 17th at the Mind Museum, Taguig.

Institute Day Celebration

On August 3rd FMA Provincial House celebrated the Institute Day, together with LVTC students, with the Eucharistic Mass presided by Father Camilo, SDV. Students of LVTC performed an interpretative dance to the song 'Purpose', while the other student sang the song “Salamat”, it was well performed. There were also performances made by the Vicuňans; they happily danced their piece. Raffle draw was also held , in between the performances. The program ended with a get together dinner. The different educating communities were indeed grateful for the presence of the FMA Sisters during their many years here in Sta. Mesa.
